Join Nate Ivy (Fremont Unified), Gloria Harwood (Laguna Beach Unified), and Nick Okafor (trubel&co) to explore how environmental data can support student learning. After setting the stage for why data literacy is crucial for youth, participants were introduced to CivicScape, a tool from truble&co that helps educators build standards-aligned lessons using publicly available datasets to inspire young people to turn local data into community action. Participants also heard about one district’s journey to implementing similar work using the “Three Map Formula” to link human drivers, environmental conditions, and human impact.
