Shelley Brooks

Shelley Brooks works as a program coordinator for the California History–Social Science Project at UC Davis, where she earned her PhD in History. She leads K–12 professional learning events and develops history-social science classroom resources such as the Current Context series and the Teaching California inquiry sets designed in collaboration with the California Historical Society. Brooks lectures at UC Davis in US and Environmental History. Her book Big Sur: The Making of a Prized California Landscape (Univ. of California Press, 2017) won the Weyerhaeuser Book Award for conservation history.
