Professional Learning Initiative

The CAELI Professional Learning Innovation Hub seeks to provide coordination and support for those who provide professional learning on environmental and climate literacy. Composed of leaders from higher education, state and county offices of education, and other providers, the hub will establish priorities for environmental and climate literacy training and professional learning for formal and informal educators, educational leaders, and community-based partners.

Learn more about our:

GOALS

  • Establish clear and relevant educational priorities for professional learning in environmental literacy.
  • Gather, evaluate, and share best practices for teaching K–12 environmental literacy.
  • Create a system of support for professional learning providers across the state that can be accessed in multiple ways.

PROJECTS & WORKING GROUPS

  • Continuing the Environmental Superheroes of the ELA Classroom: This project highlights the stories of individual teachers at different grade levels who teach reading, writing, listening, and speaking through the lens of environmental literacy. The project includes podcasts, vignettes, and snapshots all resources that can be used for the ELA/ELD framework revision process in mind.
  • PL Best Practices and Resources: Generate an annotated list of best practices emergent from internal and guest speaker presentations on what works and what could work better in climate and environment-focused PL.
