San Diego Children and Nature

Tara Fuad

Tara Fuad is the executive director of San Diego Children and Nature (SDCaN), a non-profit founded in 2009 and inspired by Richard Louv’s book “Last Child in the Woods.” SDCaN brings together nature providers, educators, and concerned community members to counter the growing disconnect between children and nature. Through professional learning and networking opportunities, SDCaN collaborates with school districts, recreation centers, libraries, other non-profits, and families to increase meaningful outdoor experiences for youth. Prior to joining SDCaN, Tara served as the education director at Nature Collective (formerly San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy) where she helped spearhead a robust multi-year/multi-organization environmental education program for the Escondido Union School District.
