Jeff Schmidt

Jeff Schmidt is the Chief Executive Officer of Ignited. He leads a national network of industry, education, community, military, local, and federal government partners – all on a shared mission to bring 10 Advanced Science and Technology Career Pathways to underserved schools across the U.S. This network modernizes and strengthens talent pipelines and diversifies local talent pools through career-oriented content, customized teacher training, skill-based experiences for students and teachers, and ongoing support through alumni learning communities and career ambassador programs. Clean Technology and Sustainability is one of Ignited’s 10 career pathways and the organization has a strong focus on bringing green jobs to a larger number of students across California and beyond.

Jeff was also appointed to serve a four-year term on the City of Menlo Park’s Environmental Quality Commission to help the city examine environmental quality issues and make recommendations to the City Council on policy matters related to environmental protection, water, and energy conservation, and sustainability. He also serves as Menlo Park’s Electric Vehicle Transition Lead for 350 Silicon Valley, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting for climate justice by mobilizing residents in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.

Prior to his work with Ignited, Jeff had a 25-year career in the industry. He held a variety of business and operational roles based in Switzerland, Ireland, and the U.S. at Lockheed Martin, Lam Research, eBay, Hewlett-Packard, Quantum, and Texas Instruments, leading global teams across the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe. He was previously a Co-Chair for the STEM Pathways Steering Committee at the Tech Interactive and is currently on the Board of Advisors for the Krause Center for Innovation at Foothill Community College.
