Case Study

A case study is a detailed exploration of how a school, district, or organization is implementing environmental literacy practices in real-world settings. These examples highlight challenges, successes, and transferable strategies to inform and inspire others in the field.

Community of Practice

A Community of Practice (CoP) is a group of peers who meet regularly to exchange knowledge, solve shared challenges, and build capacity around environmental literacy. CoPs foster ongoing collaboration across roles, regions, and sectors.

Databases

Databases are curated collections of environmental literacy resources (including lesson plans, policies, tools, and curricula) organized for easy access and use by educators and school leaders. They provide easy access to high-quality materials for diverse educational settings.

Podcasts

Podcasts are audio-based learning tools that feature interviews, stories, and insights from educators, students, and leaders working at the intersection of education, climate, and justice. They are a flexible way to stay informed and inspired.

Programs

Programs are structured initiatives that provide training, tools, and community support to help educators and school systems advance environmental literacy. These include fellowships, leadership pipelines, and student engagement efforts.

Research/Studies

Research and studies offer evidence-based insights into the impacts, outcomes, and best practices of environmental literacy. They help inform policy, practice, and funding by providing data and analysis from the field.

Toolkits and Advocacy Collaborations

Toolkits provide actionable guidance, frameworks, and resources for educators, administrators, and advocates to launch and sustain environmental initiatives in schools. Advocacy collaborations combine these tools with coalition-based efforts to drive systemic change at the district, county, or state level.

Webinars

Webinars are live, virtual learning sessions where educators and partners explore key topics in environmental literacy, share promising practices, and engage in dialogue. These events often feature guest speakers and are archived for ongoing access.

CAELI members have put together a number of case studies that provide an in-depth overview of environmental literacy efforts at different scales— classroom, site, district, county, etc.

These are CAELI efforts focused on providing access to partners and important data on the need and progress of efforts across the state.

CAELI innovation hubs and working groups host a variety of statewide communities of practice (COP) and networks to help advance environmental literacy across the state.
