Mireya Valencia

Mireya Valencia is the director of education at Friends of the Los Angeles River (FoLAR). Mireya grew up in the San Fernando Valley and graduated from Pomona College with a B.A. in Environmental Analysis and a concentration in Environmental Justice. Before joining FoLAR in 2019, she worked at various environmental education organizations in LA, teaching youth about everything from gardening to water conservation. Mireya finds the history of the LA River captivating and feels lucky to be able to share its story with thousands of students each year.
